Select and wash comfortable clothing
Your midsection is where you’ll likely feel most of your post-op soreness due to the multiple incisions. You won’t want to wear anything tight or restricting that will press up against these incisions or make you feel restricted. Finding loose-fitting, comfortable clothing is essential to your day-after comfort. You will probably feel tired, so you might not feel up to doing laundry, specially if you have to go out to do laundry. You also won’t want to be looking through drawers and closets, hunting for them. Lay at least a few days’ or a week’s worth, the night before you head into surgery so you know exactly where your clothes are. Also essential: slip-on shoes; the incisions in your stomach and the soreness that come with them will make it painful to bend down to adjust velcro or shoelaces.
Your diet plan is key in this stage and will continue to be so for months out. The best thing to do is to stock up on your approved foods. Maybe even portion them out and do some prep work beforehand so your processes are quick and easy. Your diet will evolve from mouth swabs and ice cubes to liquids, then pureed foods, then soft foods, then solids. As much prep work and stocking up as you can do, the better. Purchasing your approved foods beforehand from brands that are specially designed to feed bariatric patients can really make your life easier, as these foods have all the nutritional information clearly printed and portioned for you to keep track of your fat, sugar, protein and other intakes.

Arranging for Childcare
The last thing you need when you feel sore, in pain or tired is a house full of screaming or rowdy children. In the days following your surgery, help your recovery go more smoothly by making arrangements for childcare.
Arranging for a Support Person to be With You
A helping hand can really aid the recovery process. Someone who will help you move around, if you require help, get dressed, prepare meals or use a shopping list to go grocery shopping for you can really allow you to be more relaxed throughout your recovery process. This person can keep you company and support you, encourage and uplift you, should you need it.
Stock up on Multivitamins and Pain Killers
When in pain, leaving your home to search for the pain killers is really an unpleasant ordeal. Do yourself a favor and purchase these before you go into surgery. Then, put them someplace easy to reach and find. The multivitamins will be recommended by your doctor anyway, since bariatric patients don’t absorb their nutrients the same way as before, so taking the right combination of these pills can help prevent malnourishment.
